al-Maṣmak

أحد أهم المعالم التراثية في المملكة، يعد مركز انطلاق الملك المؤسس عبد العزيز آل سعود، واستعادته مكَّنَت الملك عبد العزيز من استعادة الرياض كاملة، وسمي بصفته؛ فالمصمك يعني البناء القوي، فيه بوابة، ومسجد ومجلس ديوان القصر، وبئر. كانً َ داراً للسكن والحكم، وبيتاً للمال، ثم استخدم مستودعاً للذخيرة والأسلحة، إلى أن تقرر تحويله إلى معلم تراثي يمثل مرحلة مهمة من مراحل تأسيس المملكة العربية السعودية.

One of the most important heritage landmarks in the Kingdom, it is regarded as the starting point of the Founding King, Abdulaziz Al Saud. Its recapture enabled King Abdulaziz to regain Riyadh in its entirety. It was named for its nature, as al-Masmak means the strong or fortified structure. It contains a gate, a mosque, the palace diwan (Majlis), and a well. It served as a residence and seat of governance, as well as a house of money (treasury), and was later used as a storehouse for ammunition and weapons, until it was decided to convert it into a heritage landmark representing an important stage in the foundation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
