THE BATTLE OF THE TRENCH SITE

al-Ḫandaq

موقع أثري شهد حفر المسلمين خندقًا حولهم للتحصن، وقد اندثرت آثار ذلك الخندق، وتشير بعض الدراسات إلى أن الخندق يبدأ من طرف (الحرة الغربية) عند مرور وادي بطحان بقربها، ويمتد إلى غربي "سلع"، ثم ينعطف في شبه قوس فيمر قرب جبل "ذُباب"، ويتجه إلى "أجمة الشيخين" وينتهي عند طرف (الحرة الشرقية).

An archaeological site associated with the digging of a trench by the Muslims for fortification; yet, the traces of the trench have since disappeared. Some studies indicate that the trench began at the edge of (the western lava plain) near where Wadi Buthan passes, extended to the west of Mount Salaʿ, then curved in a semi-arc, passing near Mount Dhubab, continuing toward Ajmat al-Shaykhayn, and ending at the edge of (the eastern lava plain).
